Cathy Cincurak

Advocate

Cathy Cincurak is employed as a part-time Child/Youth Advocate at the Windsor Essex Child/Youth Advocacy Centre. Cathy retired in 2017 from her role as an elementary school principal with the Greater Essex County District School Board advocating for children/youth and their families for 27 years.

Cathy obtained her B.A. from the University of Windsor in 1989 and her B.Ed. the following year. In 1990, she began her teaching career as a Special Education teacher for the GECDSB. Cathy acquired Specialist Certification in Special Education in 1993 and completed her Master’s of Education Degree in 1999.

Following eight years as a specialized classroom teacher, Cathy advanced to administration where she served 19 years in the role of school administrator. As a principal, Cathy was committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students, staff, parents/guardians and community partners.

Children and youth are the most vulnerable in our society. It is the community’s responsibility to guide and support them in times of need by removing barriers and creating a supportive environment for growth and healing to occur.
