Joanne Barbera is the Manager of Windsor Regional Hospital’s Sexual Assault Treatment Centre, where she ensures that services meet the safety and quality that is mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and the Centre for Forensic Science.
Joanne completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) with Honors in year 1988 from the University of Windsor. In addition to being a Registered Nurse (RN), Joanne also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree from Long Island University where she minored in Social Work. Joanne is a Board Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E. “A”), and has worked as a Forensic Nurse for more than 15 years. Prior to this however, Joanne spent 13 years working as a Pediatric Staff Nurse and a Clinical Instructor at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital. Joanne is regularly involved in continuing education.
Joanne strives to provide direction, supervision, and support to staff in the Sexual Assault Treatment Centre and SAFEKids Program, so that children and families who are victims of abuse, receive the best care.
