Michelle Oake

Executive Director

Michelle is the Executive Director for the Windsor Essex Child/Youth Advocacy Centre. Michelle holds a Masters Degree in Human Kinetics (MHK) from the University of Windsor, where her focus was Health Psychology. Michelle’s interests are in the psychosocial aspects of pediatric support services and child, youth, and parent wellness. Michelle has a passion for knowledge translation and is dedicated to promoting evidence-based approaches to wellness.

Prior to her employment with WECYAC, Michelle worked as a Research Project Coordinator at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital), located in Toronto.

Over the years, Michelle has collaborated on projects through Holland Bloorview, SickKids, Anne Johnston Health Station, Ryerson University, and the University of Windsor.

Michelle is an active contributor to workshops, presentations, and has co-authored a number of peer-reviewed journal articles in the areas of health and wellness for vulnerable children and youth populations and their parents. Her current focus is to ensure and promote client and family-centered care best practices in child abuse service delivery (through model adaptation, practice, and community partner collaboration) in Windsor Essex.
